Workout The “So Much More” Way

Somehow, it’s almost summer and I am rocking a winter body, people. The biggest winter body of my life (not counting the two times I was creating human beings inside my uterus.) So I’ve recommitted to clean eating and exercise, hoping to be more Chantay than Sharpei come bathing suit season, uh, next month.

My biggest problem with working out is boredom. I’ve tried everything: bootcamp, boxing, BBG, kickboxing, yoga, Physique 57, pilates, capoeira, Radu, swimming, kendo, spin, Crossfit, etc, etc… I’m all gung-ho for a few weeks or months and then I lose steam and/or get injured. So when I heard my NYC friends talking about Class Pass, which lets you take fitness classes in a huge network of gyms and studios, I was like, “When’s it coming to Paris?’

Ask and ye shall receive.

Somuchmore is the Paris Class Pass. They’ve got hundreds of different classes in every part of Paris (outside, too—77, 78, 91, 92, 93, 94) and an easy online system of seeing what’s available each week. There’s pole dancing, krav maga, zumba, martial arts, jumprope—literally every fitness craze out there. I signed up three days ago, took a fantastic Bikram yoga class Monday and have a dance class today, all in my hood! And because this is France where fitness is just another word for “treat yoself,” there’s a spa near me that offers free manicures, facials and massage, courtesy of my Somuchmore card.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Somuchmore has two options, the €89/month White Card, and the €39/month White Card Lite. The White Card gives you unlimited classes (up to 3x/month in the same studio). The Lite version lets you take 4 classes a month (again, up to 3x in the same studio). The White Card is obviously the smarter call. Unless you know you’ll never workout more than 4 times in a month. Once a week? We can do better than that, right?

As soon as you’re signed up, look on their website to see what classes are happening where and at what time. Then you reserve online and show up to class.

Either option is a bargain when you consider that most drop-in classes, whether it’s yoga or Crossfit, cost about €20.
