Wondering what cold press juice is exactly? Here’s a quick tutorial from Pressé Mignon’s Vidya Iyer.
There are four techniques to pressing juice:
- Citrus press: For squeezing citrus like lemons, oranges, etc.
- Blender: A smoothie is thick and nourishing because it retains the fiber
- Centrifugal press: This juice has nearly all of the fiber removed
- Cold press: Presses the fruit and vegetables very slowly
The issue with blenders and centrifugal presses is that the blades move so fast, they heat a little and oxidize the juice. It means most of the nutrients are killed because of the oxidation. You also have to drink the juice right away because it won’t keep. The cold press doesn’t heat so it doesn’t oxidize the juice. This means you can keep the juice for three to four days with the nutrients intact and no alteration to the taste. Cold press is the healthiest juicing you can do!
